KIRSTEN LEIGH SCHRANZE

     KIRSTEN SCHRANZE is a young and thriving dance artist and choreographer. Schranze studied at The Hartt School in Connecticut, earning her BFA in Dance Performance in 2015, under the direction of Stephen Pier. While studying at Hartt, she performed various works by legendary choreographers such as José Limon, Martha Graham, and Petipa. Schranze has also worked with thriving artists of today, including Gregory Dolbashian, Charlotte Griffin, Loni Landon, and Yin Yue.

 

As a student at Hartt, Kirsten was selected to perform with Hartford's resident contemporary dance company, Full Force Dance Theater, under the direction of Katie Stevinson-Nollet. The company performed Saint-Saëns' "Danse Macabre" alongside the Hartford Symphony Orchestra at the Bushnell Theater. As a student choreographer, Schranze's work entitled GLITCH was selected to perform at the American College Dance Awards in Providence, RI. Schranze was the recipient of The Hartt School Dance Division's "Senior Outstanding Achievement Scholarship" in 2015.

 

Kirsten had the opportunity to participate in the Henny Jurriëns Stichting Summer Workshop series in Amsterdam, NL, training and performing works of the Graham Company, Ultima Vez/Wim Vandekeybus, and Akram Khan. In Valencia, Spain, Schranze worked closely with Laura Fernandez-Castellano, asistant to Cayetano Soto.
 

As a young professional, Schranze continues to train and perform. She is a new member of New York's PMT Dance Company, under the direction of Pavan Thimmaiah. Prior to joining the company, Schranze performed alongside company members on NBC's The TODAY Show, breaking the Guinness World Record for "Largest Choreographed Street Dance." Other performance credits include dancing for comedian Hannibal Burress at the ODDBALL Comedy Festival, The Peridance Faculty & Student Showcase, and the "8 in Show" series at Dixon Place.

 

 

As a young choreographer, Kirsten Schranze was selected to showcase her own choreographic works at both Dixon Place and the Salvatore Capezio Theater in New York City. Schranze continues to choreograph independently, and is a dance instructor for young children in the Bronx.
